IT, CINEC IT is an associate ICT education and training institution of CINEC, which delivers quality ICT training in Sri Lanka
The institution
has three main divisions for ICT Training, Software Development and Computer Hardware Maintenance. It is an approved International
Computer Driving License (ICDL) training and testing centre (Reg. No LK 00 000 027) and is affiliated to the University of Cambridge-
UK (Reg. No LK 017) leading students up to Diploma, Advanced Diploma and which leads eventually to a degree in Information &
Communication Technology.
The institution has a faculty comprising of IT professionals with high academic background and long years of teaching experience. The
Computer centre is fully equipped with two modern laboratories. The centre provides 24 hour access to the Information Superhighway
through a dedicated leased line and a Wi-fi enabled access point to IT students as well as to those following maritime & other training
programs. It is also equipped with stand by power generation to facilitate uninterrupted training. The facility has fully equipped classrooms
with audio/visual training aids such as multi media projectors and the other state-of-the-art training facilities.
CINEC IT is affiliated to the Australian Computer Society in Australia to conduct the ACS Diploma in Information Technology in Sri Lanka.
The proposed link is between CINEC IT and one of six universities, which gives credits for ACS Diploma in IT for their bachelor's degree
programmes. This helps students, who do not carry adequate entry requirements (3 AL passes) to enter into any bachelor's degree
programme, to obtain their respective degrees from any university of their choice. (i.e. one pass in any subject to sit for the ACS Diploma in
IT).
The institution extends training facilities via Online/Distance Learning through its fully featured Learning Management System (LMS) in
collaboration with the Distance Education Modernization Project (DEMP), under Public Private Partnership (PPP) programme of the
government of Sri Lanka. The centre is also into publishing comprehensive text/reference books to cover Advanced Level-General
Information Technology (GIT) curriculum. Further, it is proposed to publish and launch a text book on Information & Communication
Technology for Ordinary Level.
The division involved in software development is well capable of analyzing business needs and translating them into executable strategies
(Enterprise Application Development) and comprises of a group of well qualified and experienced Software Engineers, backend developers,
Web Developers/Designers and programmers who use some of the latest technologies of software/web development available today.
