Cadets are Necessarily Subjected to the Rudiments of Navigation & Seamanship
The Department of Navigation primarily focuses on the training of Navigation Cadets. It conducts preparatory courses for certificates of competency examinations for Watch-keeping Officers, Chief mates and Masters. These programmes comply with the revised IMO/STCW'95 convention and are approved by the national administration.
The Department is managed by qualified Master Mariners as well as others who have had many years of experience at sea and in the field of Education. The Department manages the Radar Simulator Centre and other PC based Simulator Programmes, a Seamanship Centre and one of the technologically advanced and sophisticated versions of a Ship's Bridge Maneuvering Simulator.
CADET TRAINING
The college has a Deck and Engine Cadet Training Programme for which the administration has approved the absorption of foreign students.
Cadet Training schemes have been formulated by laying emphasis on comprehensive shore based training and effective on board training which are monitored by the college by way of periodical assignments.
The course content has been carefully formulated to ensure that trainees become competent officers in the future. All professional subjects are conducted by a panel of experienced Master Mariners and Class 1 Marine Engineers while academic subjects are conducted by lecturers who have had many years of teaching experience at university level.
