The Department of Industrial Engineering caters to the training needs of the local and foreign industry in welding, steel fabrication and machining and fitting work. The faculty consists of well qualified and experienced Chartered Engineers, Academics and Instructors.

The faculty has a range of facilities including, machine shop, general fitting shop, diesel fitting shop and a welding shop, which it shares with the department of Marine Engineering.

As one of the leading institutions for the training of welders, machinists and fitters for the maritime local and foreign industries, the department maintains a well equipped training facility to meet the constant demand for quality personnel. This Centre also conducts various types of trade tests including 6-G, 6-GR category for welders and corporate clients.
